Thorough OCT Exams Using the Latest Technology

At InFocus Eyecare, we provide thorough OCT exams using the latest OTC retinal technology.

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is advanced eye scan technology that uses light waves to see beneath the surface of the eye. Our OCT exams create detailed images of the back of the eye. These images help us to detect possible warning signs of serious eye health conditions.

An OCT scan is a quick and painless scanning process and the exam can be completed in a just a few minutes. Call (765) 662-3936 for an appointment.

Three Common Eye Diseases We Look For

  • Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) - AMD causes gradual damage to the macula which can result in loss of central vision. AMD can occur in one or both eyes. It can make it difficult to recognize faces and can affect activities such as reading and driving. You are at higher risk if:

  • You are 60 or older
  • You are Caucasian
  • Family history of AMD
  • You smoke

  • Diabetic Retinopathy - Complication of having diabetes, diabetic retinopathy is caused by damage to the blood vessels of the retina. Can worsen over time which can lead to vision loss or blindness. An OCT exam enables early detection of damage which may be slowed through management, medication and/or surgery, reducing the risk of severe vision loss by 95 percent. You are at higher risk of diabetic retinopathy if:

  • You have type 1 or type 2 diabetes

  • Glaucoma - Happens when excess pressure within the eye damages the optic nerve. If left untreated, it can cause vision loss or blindness. There are usually no symptoms until irreversible damage has occurred. An OCT exam detects signs of glaucoma before they may be diagnosed on other vision tests. You are at higher risk of glaucoma if:

  • You are age 60 or older, especially Latino or Hispanic
  • You are African-American and over 40 years old
  • Family history of glaucoma
  • You have diabetes or hypertension
